Jennifer Stock (b. 1980, Indianapolis) is an artist and composer based in Brooklyn, NY. Her work centers around illusionistic landscapes and environments, "transform[ing] nearly recognizable figures into dancing geometrical patterns and ghostly apparitions." (Steve Smith, New York Times) Her installations and live performances are created from sounds, videos, and pictures that she collects and records; her compositions center around piano, her primary instrument, and environmental sounds.
She released her debut audiovisual album, En Plein Air, as part of the Roulette Concert Series in October 2010. Collaborative work includes live video for ensembles Threefifty Duo and Victoire. In New York City she has performed and presented work at Merkin Hall, White Box Gallery, Chelsea Art Museum, Roulette, the Tank, Joe's Pub, Galapagos Arts Space, the Flea Theater, and on the River to River Festival. In 2011 she received a grant from the Jerome Foundation to research outsider architecture for future installations.
Jennifer received a B.A. in Music and English from Yale in 2003, where she received the 2001 Cole Porter Fellowship for Music and Theater. She is currently a Chancellor's Fellow in music composition at the CUNY Graduate Center.
