Jennifer Stock is a composer and audiovisual artist based in Brooklyn, NY.
Interested in the sights and sounds of everyday landscapes, Jen
integrates field recordings and videos with instrumental music via custom
built software, using an eclectic library of sound and visuals collected
over the years as a starting point for composition.
Current projects include the solo audiovisual pieces "City Scars," and "Granary,"
which correlate granular processing of piano, guitar, and ambient sounds with video feedback, and "QE2," a set of songs for piano and found sounds. She is currently
pursuing a doctorate in music composition at the City University of New York, where
she studies with Morton Subotnick, and she holds a B.A. in Music and English
from Yale University.
Recent New York performances include the Music with a View Series at Flea Theater, the Roulette concert series, New Composers Series at White Box Gallery in Chelsea, vBrooklyn video festival, the Electronic Music Foundation's Lab Productions Concert Series at Flea Theater, {r}ake audiovisual series, the Untapped series at the Tank, and the New West Electronic Arts Organization Festival at Roulette. She has also performed at Galapagos, the Chelsea Art Museum, the Knitting Factory, the Stone, Yippie Museum Cafe, Monkeytown, and Lit Lounge.
Jennifer produced and curated a year-long concert series called Sound Art in 2006, which brought together an eclectic cross section of contemporary music; info on those concerts here.
